I am not much for controversy, but I enjoy thinking deeply about things. As I have reflected on the current political climate in the the last few months, I find myself at odds with issues both on the left and the right. As well as, the inconsistancies in how ideas are expressed. I guess that puts me somewhere in the middle. The bottom line is I don’t want to be identified with the left, the right, the middle, or any other position. I simply want to be free to think and discussion topics based on their merit.
It seems to me that we now live in a political climate in which the worth of an idea is measured by how conservative or how liberal it is. Even politicians are weighted and measured by how well they fit into their political sphere. Thus we hear of Republicans who are on the “far right” and those more to the middle. Likewise, we have “moderate” Democrats and those that are “liberal”.
The media does not help the situation. They fuel the fire of placing topics on the politcal spectrum. It is my fear that people are too busy trying to decide if a position fits their political affiliation rather than actual weigh the merit of the idea. My intent on this site is to simply raise some topics, offer my personal reflection and hopefully to encourage others to engage in deeper contemption on issues and not merely settle for the surface of the issue.
